The Interactive Tv

The Interactive Tv is a performative video installation, where the artist interacts with the audience through the medium of television. From the audience perspective it looks like a pre-recorded video installation. But at times the performer/artist (who is in a separate space, hidden from direct view) speaks directly to members of the audience, who can reply and converse (see image below). The aim of this work is to break the detached/out-of-synch relationship video installations often have with the audience, and to explore different approaches to the relation between artist, public, art and technology.
The performance lasts for the duration of the opening (usually 3 hours) and it's recorded. The resulting video piece is later shown on two Tv sets (performance and audience interaction), with common sound.
